I love photographing weddings because I believe in the unique beauty of every love story. And I believe in images that bring back how couples felt on their special day. I'm not a huge fan of chairs, shoes, and cufflinks - rather I love going off-script and capturing the real.
I love photographing weddings because its the couple's most important day of their lives together and there is so much that is put in to the day. Every tiny detail is thought about and as a photographer I get capture all of that for them. When the wedding is over the only thing left to re-live the day are their photos and its so important for me capture the whole essence of the day.
I am a wedding photographer because I love the idea of preserving memories through my camera. When my couples flip though their wedding album, the photos make them smile, maybe laugh, or remind them how happy they were. This is why I do what I do, I provide a window on one of the most meaningful day of their life.
About a decade ago, I was a studio pupil and wedding photo assistant for a Richmond photographer. While I still enjoy being a "second shooter," there's nothing like being able to sort through and edit images you took yourself! In doing this, I get to relive the special emotions captured throughout the day. Honestly, who doesn't love the genuine smiles after the Officiant announces the couple?
Our philosophy as documentary photographers is that life is most beautiful when it is lived! While photographing weddings and families we aim to highlight the natural, honest, and raw emotion that exists within the most cherished moments of our life.
